Recreating a natural space | Weaving it together, 2019 | Medium- vines, branches

I selected a space next to a tea stall near S.N School where students and teachers from various departments generally come to have tea after class to share a light moment. The space attracted me more because there was a group of trees planted in a circle, which defined the space that was being used for. I started off by creating structures with sticks and vines. Collecting the sticks from various places and pulling down vines every day was like a ritual for me to make these structures. I did not force

myself on the forms of these structures. They resembled the existing patterns of nature. It is site-specific because of the public use of the space. Tying the fallen sticks collected from various places, and spaces and forming a new life and it will pass through another time. The very act of tying the sticks together and around the trees is like harmonizing the sticks & and vines together to show the connectedness of the people here.

Even if they are coming from various departments but meeting in one place. When I had completed putting up the structures, I realized that I had created an architectural structure around the trees, like a web-formed structure. I wanted to make the people interact with it so I asked some people to tell me how they felt while they were experiencing it from inside. The addition of chairs is the second stage. I decided to construct stools with natural materials around them, place them around the trees and connect them to the structures. The sole purpose was to make people sit at the spot even after the tea stall was dosed. And also to make the people come closer to this architectural web that in turn is bringing everyone closer. I am using natural materials within a selected space and creating another space altogether.I feel the structures are also a kind of architectural piece joined together to make one architecture that has changed the whole space, giving the people a new experience of the space. It was more site-specific because of the public use of the space.
